My Bucket List Trip To Switzerland

My uncle has a beautiful, white-dial Longines that he has worn every single day since buying it on a business trip to Switzerland. When I was just a kid, he told me the story of how he found it in Zurich. From that moment, I knew a trip to Switzerland was in my future. I dreamed of the day I’d do my own watch shopping there and come home with a story of my own.

In October 2025, that dream became a reality.

While traveling to Italy for my cousin’s wedding, I took a detour. I landed in Zurich and spent five days road-tripping across the country like a wide-eyed kid—picking up a couple of speeding tickets along the way! I stepped into every jewelry shop I passed, surprised by what caught my eye. I found myself particularly drawn to German watches; their design and finish really spoke to me. But I told myself I'd save those for a trip to Germany—I was here for a Swiss watch.

After a few near-misses with other brands and some lackluster experiences with salesmen, I tapped into my uncle’s wisdom: how do I balance wants and needs? Then I saw it—a beautiful 35mm quartz Tissot PRX. It was under $400—close to what that Longines cost him back in the '90s. It felt like a sign. I swapped the "Homemade" on my wrist for the Tissot and walked out elated, carrying a second Tissot for my wife.

My trip ended exactly how I imagined: taking off with a new memory and a beautiful watch. I eventually met up with my family in Italy and finally got to meet my niece, Delia. She was born on February 22nd... 2/22.

Trust the process, my friends. ✌️
